Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day

Siza Water has been taking part in the Cell C Take a Girl Child to Workday’s campaign since 2010. The initiative has enjoyed unrivalled success as a platform to address the needs and aspirations of Grade 10 to 12 South African girl learners and gives them the opportunity to visit a place of work and to experience the various career opportunities available to them. The campaign seeks to inspire girls to achieve their goals and ambitions and to make them aware of the important role they can play in the South African economy.

MANDELA DAY

Siza Water has taken part in the Mandela Day campaign since 2010. This worthy campaign’s objective is to inspire individuals to take action and help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere to “Take action; Inspire Change and thereby making Every Day a Mandela Day.” It calls for individuals to spend at least 67 minutes doing actions of goodwill in commemoration of the 67 years Mandela devoted his life to the service of humanity.

WATER WEEK

Siza Water celebrates Water Week annually by hosting pupils from various schools within the area to teach them eco-friendly and efficient ways to preserve water. Fun, educational activities not only teach the pupils about making water safe to drink but also raises awareness of the danger pollution poses to our environment. Humans are the primary source of water pollution because of the excessive use of plastics, chemicals and emissions from factories that cause acid rain.

Staff Training & Development

At Siza Water we believe that training is one of the most important investments we make in our workforce and presents a prime opportunity to expand the knowledge base of all our employees. With our training and development programs our employees are given opportunities to grow within the company and great learning experiences make for a happier workforce.

Youth and Community Fund

Siza Water's Youth and Community Development Fund was established as a means to reinvest within the community it serves. By working closely with members of the local community, schools, NGO's and other non-profit organisations, projects are identified to uplift the lives of the communities in which it serves. An integral part of the community fund are the bursaries offered which provides a platform for students to realise their dreams.

Bursaries

Siza Water places a strong emphasis on education and bursaries for tertiary studies are awarded to students residing within the concession area. Priority is given to studies relating to the fields of Engineering, Water and Sewer Treatment, Trades in Electrical, Plumbing and Fitting, Financial Management, Town Planning and Environmental Management.

IMESA Conference 2019

Once in every two years IMESA hosts a conference and exhibition event promoting the sharing of knowledge and new technologies among the municipal and engineering sector. This event is attended by Engineers and Local Government officials representing municipalities from across Southern Africa. South African Water Works (SAWW), which is the holding company of Siza Water, attended the expo and officially unveiled its brand to participants who gained valuable information and insight into the services delivered by this proudly South African company.

Nkobongo C1 In-House Water Connection

Siza Water has installed yard connections at 234 Nkobongo houses over the past year at a cost of R4 million. Residents from all these houses had to use a communal standpipe for all their water needs, from drinking through to washing their clothes. After a wait of nearly 60 years, a portion of the Nkobongo community finally has water piped directly into their gardens. Homeowners have free use of a subsidised 10kl of water monthly before being charged pro-rata for their usage.
